dos piedras
LOCATION: Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca
Conceived for two lifelong friends and their respective families, Dos Piedras functions as a mirrored ecosystem.
The program is defined by structural tension: two independent housing units, autonomous and private, yet physically bound by a singular, expansive concrete roof. This shared canopy ensures that while each wing offers complete privacy, the project maintains a unified, aesthetic profile.
This modular intelligence allows the architecture to oscillate in scale. While the units remain distinct, the visual continuity of the pool and the roof slab transforms the project into a singular, 6-bedroom coastal estate.
The materiality of Dos Piedras is directly inspired by the rugged coast of Oaxaca. By utilizing dark-pigmented basalt stone the harsh summer sun is controlled, casting deep, intentional shadows. The weight of the stone is balanced by the fluidity of the open-plan living areas, multiple open spaces, and carrizo ceilings for terraces and corridors.
